Manifesto

Fewer rounds.

Somewhere along the way, hiring grew rounds the way old software grows settings. A screening call. A call with the hiring manager. A take-home. A panel. A “culture” chat. A final round with someone senior who has twenty minutes and a flight to catch.

Each round was added for a reason. Very few were ever taken away.

The first round is the worst one.

It is the round with the most candidates and the least information. It gets the least prepared interviewer, the shortest slot, and the notes least likely to be read. It happens when the recruiter is free, which is rarely when the candidate is. It asks the same questions every time and still manages to ask them differently.

And it decides who gets every round after it.

Candidates notice.

A good candidate applying to five companies gets five scheduling threads and five versions of “tell me about yourself”. The best ones, who have options, quietly stop replying. The process was built to find them and it is the reason they leave.

Fewer rounds, not fewer people.

We don’t think AI should decide who gets hired. We think it should do the part of the job that is repetitive, scheduled and forgettable, so that people can do the part that isn’t.

So LessRounds does one thing. It runs the first round. Every applicant gets the same careful interview, at a time that suits them, in the language they work in. Every answer is written down. Every score shows the words it came from. Then a person reads it and decides.

When the first round is done properly, you need fewer rounds after it. You meet three people instead of eleven, and you already know what to ask them.

What we won’t do.

We won’t judge people by their faces, their rooms or the language they answer in. We won’t send rejections in your name. We won’t hide the reasoning behind a score. We won’t pretend a model is fair because we said so.

And we won’t charge you for seats, or for the privilege of starting. You pay when a candidate finishes an interview. That’s it.

Fewer rounds. Better hires. That’s the whole idea.
