With brief feedback

Subject: Update on your [Role] application

Hi [First name],

Thanks for interviewing for [Role]. We won’t be moving forward this time. For this role we were looking for more experience with [Skill], and other candidates were a closer fit there.

[One genuine positive, e.g. “Your answer about handling the late delivery was clear and thoughtful.”]

Thank you again, and good luck with your search.

Keep in touch

Subject: Your [Role] application, and what’s next

Hi [First name],

Thank you for interviewing for [Role]. We’ve filled this position, but we liked what we heard and would like to keep your details for similar roles over the next [Months] months. If you’d rather we didn’t, just reply and let us know.

[Your name]

Tips

  • Send it within a week of the interview. Silence is the worst outcome for a candidate.
  • Keep feedback short, specific and about the role, never about the person.
  • Only keep details for future roles if you say so and they can opt out.

Questions

Does LessRounds reject candidates automatically?

Candidates below your pass mark are set aside in the Rejected list, but nobody is contacted. You decide who to email and what to say, and you can move anyone back to review.

Should I give feedback?

Brief, role-related feedback is kind and usually appreciated. Keep it to one or two points, and check your company’s policy first.
